Hongos Maitake de Nikko

Gracias al entorno natural y las técnicas utilizadas en Nikko, estos hongos son excelentes, uno de los mejores hongos maitake criados en Japón.

Hay varias tiendas y restaurantes donde se los puede encontrar en Nikko, pero puedes comer deliciosos hongos maitake fritos en Steakhouse Mihashi, al lado del Hotel Kanaya y el Puente Shinkyo. Su sabor, aroma y textura son increíbles, debido al cultivo con uso de aire acondicionado sin pesticidas. No te lo pierdas!

Seasonal Special Lunch at Nikko Kanaya Hotel

Fall season at Nikko is amazing, not only for its famous colors, but also because of the delicious food.
Just a few meters away from Shinkyo Bridge, you can enjoy a seasonal special lunch at Nikko Kanaya Hotel, which is the oldest resort hotel in Japan, opened in 1873.
Both at the Craft Lounge (1F) or at the Main Dining Room (2F) exclusive dishes are served, such as Rainbow Trout and sausage made from Nikko Himitsu pork.

Are you enjoying the holidays in Nikko? Would you like to have a delicious breakfast but not sure where to go?

Cottage Inn Restaurant & Bakery at Kanaya Hotel History House offers 4 different options made with local ingredients and freshly baked bread from Kanaya Hotel Bakery.

It is located about a ten minute walk from Shinkyo Bridge, and it stands next to the Kanaya Hotel History House – a historic landmark newly opened to the public in March 2015.

It is open from 9 am to serve tasty breakfast sets including eggs (fried or scrambled), bacon, toast, quiche, juice and coffee or tea (free refill).

Azuma

Right in front of Tobu Nikko Station you fill find Azuma, a restaurant located on the second floor.

They offer different types of soba and snacks, and since it’s really close to the station it’s a good place to stop and eat before going back home after a long day of walking around Nikko.

They also serve Nikko famous yuba (tofu skin) in interesting ways suck as yuba croquette and dumplings, very delicious!

Ryuzu Falls

If you are in Oku Nikko, you will surely visit Chuzenji lake and the beatiful area that surrounds it.
Ryuzu Falls is one famous spot, and while you are there you should stop by Ryuzu no Chaya.

This small restaurant offers soba, udon, ramen, yuba, tempura and also delicious dango (sweet Japanese rice dumplings). What makes this place special is the amazing view of Ryuzu Falls, so make sure to be there early to get a good seat!

English menu available, and also a shop to take a look and buy beautiful souveniers before leaving.

Bar de Nikko

Looking for a calm and cozy restaurant around Shinkyo Bridge area? They you should visit Bar de Nikko.

The menu offers quite limited options, but the Omurice (omelet with a filling of seasoned rice) is delicious, and other dishes are also very tasty and well presented.

Nice music, relaxed atmosphere, don’t miss it!

Suien – Chinese Restaurant

Chinese food in Nikko? Yes! Suien is well-known in Nikko area, and open for both lunch and dinner.

Dishes are delicious and big enough for sharing, so it makes a good option for families or groups. Also, do not forget to try their homemade annin tofu (almond jelly) for dessert, you will not regret it!

Vegetarian Cuisine at Gyoshintei

Perfect after visiting Nikko Toshogu, at Gyoshintei you will be able to experience authentic “Shojin Ryori”. This is a vegetarian cuisine originally developed by Buddhist monks who were prohibited from eating food containing animal products, and included on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list in 2014.

All meals at this fantastic restaurant and cooked using seasonal fruits and vegetables and completely natural non-animal ingredients. Even the Japanese soup stock traditionally made out of fish, does not contain any fish or animal ingredients.

There are different sets available, all freshly delicious. You should definitely visit Gyoshintei to experience traditional cuisine in an amazing location.

This little shop is perfect to hide from Nikko’s crowds.

Good for lunch, teatime or dinner, as they also open at night, you should try Bell Cafe‘s “monk’s diet” (special soy milk skin set) or the many cakes, sweets and coffee.

Just a few minutes away from Shinkyo Bridge. Give it a try!
