Azuma

2019年6月16日 by nikkobase

Right in front of Tobu Nikko Station you fill find Azuma, a restaurant located on the second floor.

They offer different types of soba and snacks, and since it’s really close to the station it’s a good place to stop and eat before going back home after a long day of walking around Nikko.

They also serve Nikko famous yuba (tofu skin) in interesting ways suck as yuba croquette and dumplings, very delicious!

Perfect after visiting Nikko Toshogu, at Gyoshintei you will be able to experience authentic “Shojin Ryori”. This is a vegetarian cuisine originally developed by Buddhist monks who were prohibited from eating food containing animal products, and included on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list in 2014.

All meals at this fantastic restaurant and cooked using seasonal fruits and vegetables and completely natural non-animal ingredients. Even the Japanese soup stock traditionally made out of fish, does not contain any fish or animal ingredients.

Nikko Maitake Mushroom

2019年5月20日 by nikkobase

Nikko maitake mushrooms are grown at the feet of Nikko Mountains. Thanks to Nikko’s natural environment and techniques used, these mushrooms are excellent in texture and flavor, and one of the best maitake mushroom bred in Japan.

There are several stores and restaurants where you can find them in Nikko, but you can eat delicious fried maitake mushrooms at Steakhouse Mihashi, next to Kanaya Hotel and Shinkyo Bridge.
Mihashi is one of the few steakhouses in Tochigi Prefecture that serves the “Tochigi Wagyu”, so you can try the maitake mushroom and also their unique steaks.

2019年4月27日 by nikkobase
