Hot days are coming, have you tried Nikko’s kakigori?
This shaved ice made using water from Nikko’s natural spring water will melt in your mouth, and together with the various flavors of syrup offered it makes a perfectly light dessert.
It can only be found in a few shops, for example at the famous Nikko Coffee.

Yuba Sashimi
We have already shared with you delicious dishes made of yuba.
Yuba, or tofu skin, is made from a film formed on the surface of boiled soy milk. And yuba sashimi is a perfect way of eating raw yuba.
Many different restaurants offer them in Nikko area, as a separate dish or as part of a menu (usually a vegetarian set).

Nikko Maitake Mushroom
Nikko maitake mushrooms are grown at the feet of Nikko Mountains. Thanks to Nikko’s natural environment and techniques used, these mushrooms are excellent in texture and flavor, and one of the best maitake mushroom bred in Japan.
There are several stores and restaurants where you can find them in Nikko, but you can eat delicious fried maitake mushrooms at Steakhouse Mihashi, next to Kanaya Hotel and Shinkyo Bridge.
Mihashi is one of the few steakhouses in Tochigi Prefecture that serves the “Tochigi Wagyu”, so you can try the maitake mushroom and also their unique steaks.

Yakisoba delicioso!
A tan sólo 10 minutos caminando desde la estación de Tobu Nikko se encuentra Akinoya, un restaurant de Yakisoba (fideos fritos).
El personal es muy amable y la comida es deliciosa. Cuentan con algunos platos para vegetarianos, menú especial al mediodía y también venden para llevar. Todo eso lo hace un lugar muy recomendable!

Monkey Ningyoyaki at Mishimaya
You may know the famous ‘See no evil, speak no evil, hear no evil’ Three Wise Monkeys sculptures at Toshogu Shrine in Nikko. At Mishiyama, just a few minutes away from Tobu Nikko Station, you can find these cute monkeys made of delicious baked dough, filled with sweet bean paste.
They also sell other shapes of Nikko popular things and places, such as Toshogu or the Sleeping Cat. It’s the perfect souvenir! (Just remember to eat them within 3 days after buying them)

Sakaeya Fried Yuba Manju
Sakaeya is right across Tobu Nikko Station, and it sells their original Ageyubamanju that can only be found at their shop.
This delicious product is a bun filled with anko (red bean) paste, wrapped in yuba (tofu skin), fried, and finally salt-topped. This sweet and savory combination may seem unusual, but it’s uniquely tasty. And only 200 yen a piece!
