Overview
In Nikko, which flourished through the mountain beliefs, there are people who still practice Shugendō and mountain walks. These people may have been the first ones to practice trekking in Japan. Takigyo, meditation under waterfall, has been performed as a ceremony to cleanse ourselves with waterfalls since ancient times.
We will start the tour with a traditional mountain ritual and start hiking. Please enjoy the Japanese mountain hiking, where you can experience Zen meditation and waterfalls by walking about 2.5 km of route and 3 waterfalls.
＊Shugendō is an old Japanese practice of being outside using special awareness. ’Shugendō’ literally means ’the path of training and testing. ’ It centers on an ascetic, mountain-dwelling lifestyle and incorporates teachings from other eastern philosophies. Mountain asceticism involves worshipping mountains as Gods in the belief that people’s daily lives, the Gods and Buddha are all part of nature and that nature itself is one being.

■ Departure time:
* Tobu Nikko Station at 9:00
We offer free pick up and drop off from your hotel or station within the Nikko central area (please contact us to arrange the time). Please make sure to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the tour. We will start on time to protect the enjoyment of every guest.
(If you drive, a parking lot adjacent to Nikko Tobu station costs 500 yen per day)

This tour is for everyone (but recommended for 12 years old and above).
Tour terms & conditions
All our tours are weather dependent, and may be subject to cancellations due to wind, snow, etc. We make our decisions based on many years of experience and always keeping in mind our passenger safety and comfort. In the case of cancellation, we will do our best to contact you by 7 pm on the previous day. However, the tours can be cancelled due to safety reasons or other natural conditions, with short notice. If a tour is cancelled due to weather condition the tour is refunded or you can book another day.

A fee will be charged unless the tour is cancelled 8 or more days before the tour date. Please see below:
7 to 2 days prior to your scheduled tour date, 30% of the total amount will be charged.
