Ryuzu Falls

If you are in Oku Nikko, you will surely visit Chuzenji lake and the beatiful area that surrounds it.
Ryuzu Falls is one famous spot, and while you are there you should stop by Ryuzu no Chaya.

This small restaurant offers soba, udon, ramen, yuba, tempura and also delicious dango (sweet Japanese rice dumplings). What makes this place special is the amazing view of Ryuzu Falls, so make sure to be there early to get a good seat!

English menu available, and also a shop to take a look and buy beautiful souveniers before leaving.

Edo Wonderland Nikko Edomura

Edo Wonderland Nikko Edomura es un parque temático ubicado en Nikko. Ambientado en la época Edo, quienes lo visiten pueden caminar por sus amplias calles, posadas, tiendas, una aldea ninja y residencias de samurais.

También cuentan con una tienda de alquiler de kimonos, donde se puede vestir un traje tradicional al estilo Edo y disfrutar la experiencia al máximo.

Hay una gran variedad de atracciones y performances, como por ejemplo teatro ninja, arquería, paseo en bote y actividades especiales para niños. Un paseo imperdible!

Horario: 9:00 a 17:00 (cerrado los miércoles. Horario de invierno 9:30 a 16:00 de diciembre a marzo)

Slope Coffee

Slope Coffee es uno de los cafés más nuevos de Nikko, ubicado sobre la calle principal, frente al Centro de Información Turística.

Ofrecen una variada carta de bebidas como espresso, smoothies, helados… pero su especialidad son los deliciosos sandwiches de croissant! Dulces, salados, rellenos de frutas y helado, hay una variedad para todos los gustos.

Cuentan con carta en inglés y bastante espacio: planta baja con mesas y un patio agradable para disfrutar en el verano, y en la planta superior tatami y mesas bajas al estilo japonés.

Como si fuera poco, además abren hasta las 21hs. No se lo pierdan!

Bar de Nikko

Looking for a calm and cozy restaurant around Shinkyo Bridge area? They you should visit Bar de Nikko.

The menu offers quite limited options, but the Omurice (omelet with a filling of seasoned rice) is delicious, and other dishes are also very tasty and well presented.

Nice music, relaxed atmosphere, don’t miss it!

Suien – Chinese Restaurant

Chinese food in Nikko? Yes! Suien is well-known in Nikko area, and open for both lunch and dinner.

Dishes are delicious and big enough for sharing, so it makes a good option for families or groups. Also, do not forget to try their homemade annin tofu (almond jelly) for dessert, you will not regret it!

Vegetarian Cuisine at Gyoshintei

Perfect after visiting Nikko Toshogu, at Gyoshintei you will be able to experience authentic “Shojin Ryori”. This is a vegetarian cuisine originally developed by Buddhist monks who were prohibited from eating food containing animal products, and included on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list in 2014.

All meals at this fantastic restaurant and cooked using seasonal fruits and vegetables and completely natural non-animal ingredients. Even the Japanese soup stock traditionally made out of fish, does not contain any fish or animal ingredients.

There are different sets available, all freshly delicious. You should definitely visit Gyoshintei to experience traditional cuisine in an amazing location.

Access: Take the Tobu World heritage loop bus from JR Nikko St. or Tobu Nikko St. and get off at the “Hotel Seikoen” bus stop.

Nikko Tamozawa Imperial Villa

The Nikko Tamozawa Imperial Villa was built in 1899 for Prince Yoshihito (later Emperor Taisho) as a retreat, and was also used by three emperors and three princes until 1947.

The building is the biggest wooden imperial villa erected in the Meiji and Taisho eras. It consists of three parts that date, respectively, from the Edo, Meiji and Taisho eras, each representing the very best feature of the Japanese architecture of its time.

Visit it to discover the history of the 106 rooms, Kobayashi Residence, beautiful garden and much more of this impressive Villa.

Address: 8-27 Honcho, Nikko (Closed on Tuesdays)

Access: From the Tobu Nikko Station, take the Tobu Bus bound for Yumoto Onsen,Chuzenji Onsen, Okuhosoo, or Kiyotaki, get off at Tamozawa and walk about 1 minute.
