Koyo, the beautiful autumn foliage, is now peaking in Nikko.
If you are around the area, we highly recommend that you visit Oku-Nikko for amazing views. Right now Ryuzu Waterfall is specially beautiful. From JR or Tobu Nikko Station, take the Tobu bus for Yumoto Onsen and get off at stop 38, one after Ryuzu no taki. From the bridge over Yukawa River (right next to the bus stop) you will be able to enjoy the impressive view. Then keep walking following the river downstream for about 300 meters and you will get to Ryuzu Waterfall. There’s a souvenier shop and a local restaurant with a deck with an amazing view, perfect to enjoy a warm dish after the walk!

The Journey to Japanese Scenery in The Woodblock Printings
If you are interested in Woodblock Printing, you shouldn’t miss this Exhibition.
Woodblock printing in Japan is a technique best known for its use in the ukiyo-e artistic genre of single sheets, but it was also used for printing books. The Japanese water-based inks provide a wide range of vivid colors, glazes, and transparency.
This exhibition is a group of works created by a large number of painters, centered on the new prints of Hiroshi Yoshida and Kawase Yusui. From their point of view, it will follow the landscape beauty of Japan and the new movement of woodcuts from Taisho to the early Showa era.
When: From July 13, 2019 to September 8
Where: Kosugi Hoan Museum Of Art, Nikko

Sugi-senko (Japanese cedar incense sticks)
Tochigi prefecture has several traditional craft products, and one of them is Sugi-senko, Japanese cedar incense sticks.
It is said that this incense sticks were created in 1864, when Adachi Shigeshichi produced stick incense from Japanese cedar leaves in what is now Nikko City. This cedar was widely available in the area, which helped the industry to flourish.
What makes Sugi-senko special is their natural cedar aroma, and the main ingredient is Japanese cedar leaves ground to a powder using a water wheel.
